How Children See The World & What Adults Can Learn From It
Rediscovering Childishness Along With Maturity.
Children possess a unique perspective on the world, marked by unfiltered wonder and untainted curiosity. Their view is often characterized by a sense of boundless possibility and joy, as they explore their surroundings with an openness that many adults lose over time. Albert Einstein once said, "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing." This innate curiosity allows children to approach the world with fresh eyes, seeing beauty and magic in the simplest of things.
Adults could greatly benefit from adopting a child's perspective by embracing a similar sense of wonder and curiosity. This approach can lead to a more fulfilling and enriched life, where everyday moments are appreciated and valued. Children, less constrained by societal expectations and preconceived notions, approach the world with an open mind and a blank canvas. Developmental psychology highlights that children perceive the world through immediate experiences and emotional responses, rather than through the complex analysis and long-term planning typical of adult thinking. Carl Jung observed, "The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely," and children exemplify self-acceptance without concern for societal judgments. Their imagination and self-acceptance allow them to be both superheroes and adventurers in their own narratives, unconcerned by external validation.
In practical terms, embracing a child's view involves slowing down and being present in the moment. It means revisiting old curiosities, finding new joys to explore, and embracing adventures without worrying about the outcome. Would a child ever fret about an ice cream melting and eat it quickly? Or would they savor each bite, enjoying the experience without haste?? Which option do you think would help you savor the ice cream more.
Until next time, stay curious and keep questioning!
